Last month Christa and I headed out to Lake Alamo to camp and fish a bit. The big rains we had this past winter brought the lake up to it's highest level in 10 years. We found a nice point to launch the boat and set up camp. Had a great evening, grilled some brats and enjoyed some adult beverages. Next morning got up, made some coffee, chorizo and eggs and got ready to spend some time out on the lake An armada of pelicans flew and swam past. Lots of migratory fowl spend the winter here The morning was calm, pleasant and peaceful out on the lake. Brittlebush was blooming all over Saw this buzzard posing on the shore. I'm guessing he was warming up his wings? Trolling along Christa caught a crappie in this area. I was throwing out spinner baits and soft plastics but couldn't interest any bass. Christa spotted a big bird out in the lake in exposed tree tops.. very handsome fellow and he let us get pretty close to him We headed up to the river end of the lake. I noticed something moving in a strange way and got a little closer. Second time I've come across a diamond back rattler swimming in a lake. Not sure if this guy was looking for fish, birds or just trying to get to the other side. So the winds started picking up and we headed back to camp. Things got worse later in the afternoon and before we knew it a huge Haboob blew in and blotted the sun out from the sky, with white caps that wanted to turn our boat upside down. Lost our EZ up and Christa's porta potty in the first pic. Our table tumbled out in the lake. Storm lasted through the night and next morning had a hell of a time loading the boat. Oh well, guess they can't all be excellent trips. At least we got away for a while! Hope you enjoyed the pics

Great pics and a really pretty lake. I'm glad the snake was on the lake and not around camp.
