Wow, excellent Bull Canyon! One of my favorite agate types. Only hunk of that rough I've ever had was way too big for my saw so I sold it to Capbob. That first one is 100% Horse Canyon. Seen many of that same exact type....Mel

Wow that first Bull Canyon is colorful and great abstract patterns. Now I want to see a finished cab!

I have never heard of or seen Water line before, very cool.
That's why this site is the best, people post pics of rocks They find or buy. A big learning tool.

Lovely stuff. But it raises the question: which came first, the waterline or the moss/plume? I'd love to know how that stuff really forms. I used to find lots of white waterlines like that in Idaho as well as similar green moss from the Carey area, but never in the same rough.

Thanks everyone! gemfeller I'd like to know which came first as well. I'm going out on a limb here. I wasn't there and I don't have a movie of this happening. Waterline agate happened first. The bold lines are solid agate. The moss then grew into the existing agates. I can't visualize the moss growing first and then the agate surrounding it. I can't. Maybe someone else can.

You nailed it Scott!!!! The waterline is the bottom of the agate.. That was the first part of the formation with mineralization with water...All the rest, like moss and dots, etc are the gravy (so to speak)...

I clicked on this thinking it was a thread about the gunk that grows in the plastic tubing that drains my flat lap. What a nice surprise that I was wrong. Cool agates!

hahaha I clicked on it thinking it was a discussion about placer gold prospecting, whereby moss in creeks is a great gold trap. Instead, I am overwhelmed with the beauty of those rocks. Thanks so much for sharing.
