Dad bought a saw and polisher? I don't know anything about all of this yet and so I'm hoping that some of you may know what it is we have (brand and size, where to get spare parts/consumables?) and maybe even what it's worth. It all seems to work. A few rust spots but working nonetheless. Thanks for looking. Darby There was a buffing wheel too, but I didn't take a picture of that, you can kind of see it on the right hand side of that last picture. I cut off a piece of some Teton Jade just to see what the saw would do. You can see the rock in the first picture, and here is a picture of the slice I took off with some light passing through it:

That is a lortone LU6X and it is still being made. Every part is still available. I have one and love it but I customized mine for pre-forming cabs and grinding flaws during tumbling. I removed the original wheels and installed 80 grit and 220 grit hard diamond wheels in those spots. Used in that condition I would say about $150-200. New is about $700 www.kingsleynorth.com/skshop/product.php?id=46612&catID=1064Chuck

Thanks Chuck - he probably did alright then, with that and the separate polishing wheel, he spent $200, so not too bad. Thanks for the info on what it is, that'll make it easier to get parts - much appreciated.

A lot of people replace the Lortone drum with a 6" X 1.5" expanding drum. The pan lip on end makes it hard to slide 2.5" belts on. 1.5" belts cost less too.

He apparently got a couple of tumblers in the deal too that I didn't know about. He made a little spot to hold some of the equipment.
