Here's a rose quartz sphere and a lepidolite sphere. I was hoping that the rose quartz would have a star but I didn't find one. It's still a nice deep pink/purple color. The lepidolite is a very dark purple and was difficult to photograph with my phone camera. I ended up giving them to my sister-in-law for her birthday.

I think the largest sphere I've made so far was a lightning stone sphere around 3.5" in diameter:

I think I could probably make a 5" sphere but I need to get my bigger saw working.

The indexing sphere preform jig needs a 7" wide vise (clamping horizontally) or a vertical vise will easily hold it. You do need lots of room in your saw to be able to move the jig and cube far enough away from the blade to be able to do any cuts.
