Spent a few minutes busting up a large piece of smoky quartz I picked up along the banks of a local stream this morning. Some of the pieces are pretty sharp; should I be concerned about putting them into one of the rubber barrels of my tumblers? Not worried that they'd puncture a barrel, but wondering if they might tear t up a bit. Any thoughts?

I like to take some of the edges off a little , seems to speed up the coarse grind a bit .
