I was a moderator of a Renewable Energy forum and created the FAQ Frequently Asked Questions board on the forum. Very helpful to the newbies Here is that FAQ . . . www.fieldlines.com/index.php/board,27.0.html?PHPSESSID=2bf4909190320ae9e454ae993634404d The Moderators Create the Threads with the questions, and the users answer them all . . .

That sounds like a pretty good idea! I think the tutorial section was supposed to help with oft asked questions. Maybe something like this could go in there. What do you think, Tommy?

Sounds good to me! Not sure how to facilitate the creation though - definitely want a collaborative effort between those who are qualified to answer the questions - which I'm not

Agreeing that an area with FAQ (and answers) may be helpful. but... (you knew it was coming!) I see a downside as well. Most of these questions are posted by new members here. Those that have been here have seen them time and again. New folks want to post to belong. The chance to ask a reasonable question gives our new members an opportunity to participate. To join in. Say John or Jane New Member posts a question covered in the FAQ section. How welcome are they likely to feel when they receive a curt "That's in the FAQ section!" reply. Yes, we have all had our fill of "My rocks don't look good." but I don't believe that a canned, one size fits all answer exists. And, "Go see the FAQ section ya silly newbie!" ain't gonna help. Such a section may actually keep folks from joining. Say someone stumbles across this site while searching for an answer on Google. Do they find what they need in the FAQ and move on never to return? MY opinion is - let folks ask their questions. If someone joins just to ask something, even if it has been answered before a dozen (or a hundred times), maybe we all benefit.
