I acquired a huge abandoned collection - I have no idea where most of it came from. I'm trying to retrieve it before the earth takes it back! I'll go check that out

Without more investigation and just by glance, they look like fossil "Belemnitella"......... The way to ID that is to see if its a glassy material,if so,that that's your fossil... Just guessing, like everyone else...LOL

They look like projectiles to me. What region are they found? I found them in Pensacola as a part of a collection someone abandoned along a fence with quartz coral obsidian....so I really don't know the place of origin

Fossilman is awesome.. Gunner is a giant brain and Im the court jester.. Belemnites (and other belemnoids) were distinct from modern squid by possessing hard internal skeletons. The internal skeleton was composed of the guard or rostrum (plural: rostra), a heavy solid structure at the posterior of the animals. The rostrum was usually bullet-shaped and projects prominently backward, but in the suborder Belemnotheutina, it was only present as a thin layer. While the inherited camerate portion of the internal skeleton (see below) was of aragonite, the evolutionarily novel rostrum was composed of calcite. Due to its more geologically stable calcite constitution, the rostrum is often the only remains of the animals preserved, often in very large numbers in a given area.

OK, just found out my daughter who purchased my computer and set it up, blocked photobucket images. She is a professional computer geek. Said lots of viruses were associated with that site. She will not share lots of passwords related to my computer, so for now I can see nothing from photobucket.
