I finally got around to cutting my last few slabs from an 8 pound chunk of this metallic dino bone. I dug it out again after Tommy posted a cab from something similar. I have tried to cab it with no luck but need to try again. flic.kr/p/TRj2JhChuck

That's cool stuff! How did you fail? Is it soft? Crumbly? Does it lose its shine?

For crumbly, unstable rough or slabs, epoxy resin is your friend. Get the slab or preform hot with a 100 watt bulb. Then spread some epoxy. Watch it soak in. Keep adding more until it's saturated. Keep that heat on it while curing. I use Hxtal & heat for an hour or two before & after. When cured, flip & repeat. Lynn

That's cool stuff! How did you fail? Is it soft? Crumbly? Does it lose its shine? Crumbly in areas and undercuts very easily. When I tried the cabs I tumbled the saw scraps and they survived the tumble but undercut worse than granite. Chuck
