Really nice tims ! Self collected? Thanks. Yeah, i love going to Teepee Canyon. Have never spent much time in the actual quarry part, i just wander around the outskirts and pick up naturally exposed pieces. Most of them aren't good for much except specimen pieces but they're pretty and you always seem to find something. I was tickled by the one with googly eyes, one side has banding then crystal then banding again then more crystal. Plus it has googly eyes.

I really like rocks that can be anthropomorphized! We were in S Dakota last summer and I so badly wanted to go to Teepee Canyon. We were visiting friends and at their mercy. Drove right by on our way to Wind Cave. I should have been rude and had them put me out and pick me up on the way back. Cave tours are not really my thing, I like real caving. But collecting even better.

If you get another chance definitely check it out, the agate quarry is only a couple miles in on a dirt road from the highway. Wind Cave is almost midway between Teepee Canyon and Fairburn and you're likely to find something pretty about anywhere in a 50 mile radius from there

Very nice material, do you find a lot of agates or just a few when you head to teepee canyon ? Usually not too many. These were all from one afternoon, probably an hour and a half of hunting, and I felt like it was a pretty successful day for me. So yeah, I usually don't find a lot. But I always find something.

A little Teepee Canyon, is better than no Teepee Canyon. Really pretty! I consider what you have to be a successful day.
