These are the heavy duty type I assume, not the cheaper (can't hold as much weight) type that places like Target sell for school dorms etc. ?
ETA: don't see the purple option on the website. Black or blue only. Not that I need purple milk crates...

But in colors and quantity. A bit cheaper. I bought 6 dozen and the price less than $7.50ea includes shipping. ETA they call it lilac and it's on option on the purchase page.

I can go to the dump here (we call it "The Mall") and pick up real milk crates for free. I don't know if they always have some, but they always have them when I am looking for them. Had my father pick me up one last week.

Had my father pick me up one last week. These are real milk crates. And I got the color I wanted. And the 4 gallon size I wanted also. And for $300 I could have had my logo imprinted on them.

Technically, it is illegal to possess milk crates that are from dairy companies. Here in Florida anyway. Never heard of the milk crate police busting anyone, but there is a pretty good fine for having them.

Along the lines of getting organized, I'm getting one of these next week. (from Home Depot) www.homedepot.com/p/Suncast-Glidetop-6-ft-8-in-x-4-ft-10-in-Resin-Storage-Shed-BMS4900/203065758?keyword=suncast+glidetopPreparing the ground - a pad - this week between rain storms. Gonna be for ... milk crate storage. And probably put a shelving unit (broken down in half) in to store boxes and lapidary equipment on as well. May be able to walk through my garage again in a couple weeks! See how long that lasts. (dang, that's a big picture! sorry, stolen from HD website) Unit is actually pretty good sized compared to how the pic looks. Already have a 10x10 shed in back yard, not supposed to have more than one shed in yard.

That's what it says on the crates, anyway. But I have never, ever heard of anyone getting in trouble for it. I, and other employees, have even brought some in to use at work, which is a state office. They are kind of like the blue barrels and white five-gallon buckets around here.

California Penal Code CPC 595 It is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six months, or both, for an unauthorized person to possess or use, or to obliterate or destroy the brand registration upon, containers (including milk cases), cabinets, or other dairy equipment, which have a value of nine hundred fifty dollars ($950) or less, when the containers, cabinets, or other dairy equipment are marked with a brand that is registered pursuant to Chapter 10 (commencing with Section 34501) of Part 1 of Division 15 of the Food and Agricultural Code.

So what are you supposed to do with all the crates from all the dairies that go out of business? Burn them in a secret ceremony? Send them to recycling, so they can extract 25 cents worth of plastic out of a durable item that could last another 20 or 30 years? Im thinking more like 75¢ worth. Lol

UV kills the plastic milk crates in NM in about 3-4 years. I collect the old school wire ones when I stumble across them.

Well, I have had many milk crates in my yard for a decade and all are still strong. I assumed they had UV stability built in. Never looked. Never even considered it. These are real dairy industry crates. Not the crap sold for dorm rooms at target. Come to think of it. Dairies here store them outside. vwfence
