I'm not sure if this is a good post in that they made good on their word, or bad because what I got wasn't the best quality right from the start - but here goes anyways...
Most of you must remember my trials & tribulations with my new Lortone LU6X-130 combination saw/grinder.
I called Lortone regarding the missing spacer for the sanding drum to spin properly. They said they'd send me one, and they did: LORTONE +2 - the fact that it was missing in the first place: okay I guess LORTONE -1 for not checking first
My unit was dinged & smooshed in on one corner of the "feet" CANADA POST -2.
I fixed that myself with pliers ME +5
The motor toggle switch was not attached to the motor: LORTONE - 12
Dad fixed it: DAD +100, with a toggle from Canadian Tire...
BAD for me - I'm out an extra $12, ME -12
Lortone offered to send me a replacement motor LORTONE +25, but I have to pay for the shipping out of my pocket which is around $40, LORTONE - 50 - I'll wait to see how the new switch works out but I'd hate to pay for the expensive shipping
The saw blade was worthless and cut NOTHING not even obsidian or small slabs and was totally rusted after one use LORTONE - 10
They sent a new replacement blade LORTONE +10
They sent me dressing sticks to expose the diamonds on the new or old blade LORTONE +10
They sent me some Tool Cool to add to the water so it would reduce the rust on the blade and keep the blade cooler than just plain water LORTONE +10
Now like I said, not sure if this is good or bad - they made good on their promise and the guy I spoke to at Lortone was A+++ (Jim I think) so a big +++ for them with their people
The LU6X-130 is my no means a top of the line machine - in fact it's one of their most inexpensive ones regarding cabbing - so I wasn't expecting miracles, but when you pay that kind of money specially in Canadian money it's always more expensive, I do expect something that works very well - it's okay now with all these new things - haven't yet tried the new blade but it looks like the old one, - so I'm not expecting miracles out of this one either. Will look into another diamond blade soon…
Lortone's service is really excellent, their products… I guess it depends on what you buy and how much you pay...
