Hello my friends. The lovely Susan and I have left the cool dry Valle Az weather behind. We need to go home to North Carolina, family reunions etc, Doctor appts and all.
We are in El Reno Oklahoma this mornin and with a little luck we should arrive in Branson Missouri to meet and greet with Arlen/Radio. He and I have a past with wild turkey feathers established to make arrows! He got another one this spring and offered some feathers to me, good guy! Well I am too cheap to pay shipping so we are headed there to pick them up!!! Plus we get to see his silver smith shop and jewelry establishment. Maybe he will put some pics on here. Yea meet and greet!!! I think he is a mountain man!

Travel safe friends! It was great getting to hang out with you and Susan for a little while in Utah - even if you were trying to stick a knife in my back the whole time

Rain here, lots of rain!!! I love Arizona.....335 days of balmy, warm beautiful blue sky!!! It never rains....never!!! Sometimes you have Virgo or whatever it is that the rainfall doesn't reach the groind. At our land in Valle Az it snows up there but doesnt hit the ground. Help me out here Dave about this please?

Hey Arlen/Radio was a blast!!! Great guy with a fantastic array of knowledge about lapidary and silversmithing!!! He has a super cool shop setup with everything from sawing, cabbing, silversmithing right there in the craft mall!!! He has amazing pieces for sale of silver and gold with rare and beautiful stones set in them. I might come back for a week next time!!# He got to hold my 15 pound hunk of Kingman turquoise. Then I broke it against a sidewalk curb snd gave him part of it!!! He about went into shock when I did it!!! LOL. He face polished it and it's beautiful. Then he face polished some other pieces I hounded out of the Kingman parking lot! It was a epic meet and greet! No pics sorry...I can't do pics but hey it did happen!!!

Lol My forecast wasn't weather based Hahahaha the old timers used to just say, "Boy, it's close today!" Sorry, but "smarmy" just sounds too much like a yeast infection or something

Lovely Susan was much to quiet and Bill did some of, ..... most of, all of the talking It's rare I get the opportunity to B.S with a fellow rock hound, so we chatted for a good while and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit! That *was* one big chunk of Turquoise, but Bills impatience managed to smash it down to size! He is right, I did just about crap my pants when he started bashing it against the curb! I'm trying to decide on the proper provenance for the pieces he left me. I'm thinking either the "Curb mine", or the "Aghast claim" I polished an end of one larger piece he left me and uncovered some nice black matrix with a bit of Pyrite in it. The Turquoise is very pastel, but is quite hard.

The thing was bigger than a soccer ball and pretty heavy for Turquoise. It did have several cracks in it, so slamming it against the curb only fractured it along those cracks. If you look at the pic I posted, you can see the dirt that has stained the Turquoise in one of those cracks where this chunk broke away from. This one is a good 5 or 6 ounces that broke off the main chunk
