Interesting thread.this is what fish and wildlife gets when they put endangered species status on non endangered species like nile crocs. Breeders easily overproduced the Florida market. Endangered status means they cannot be sold across state line. Prices went below production costs. Stop breeding them, let babies go if they happen. In a few decades all the nile crocs in the world in the Everglades! jamesp wasn't aware of the newts in south Florida. Do you know what species? Beldar lol ? Meant geckos/lizards. Imported potted plants are excellent lizard egg transporters. Heated greenhouse that does rental plants, amazing variety of tropical lizards in that greenhouse. Not much a problem, if they escape they won't do the Atlanta winter.

Yeah, I keep buying potted plants from the Medina nursery ( which is loaded with anoles) in the hopes that I can get anoles in our yard. No luck yet but I think that may be due to the roadrunners which abound here. Since there are loads of anoles in town too, I'm thinking that particular predator may be why anoles don't survive in the country. The geckos are nocturnal so they make it fine. Only the giant centipedes seem to eat them...Mel
