Sorry folks, nothing to do with rocks.
What a Friday. I am in Virginia and ready to go home to California. I wanted to get Home Depot gift certificate for my dad for Father's day. And, there isn't a local HD near my house. I had some time before my flight. I pull off the highway to find a phone booth. The phone booth doesn't have a phone book. so... The first retail place I find is an Auto Shop. I ask the location of the nearest Home Depot. The Home Depot was just down the street.
Just as I am pulling into the airport, the skies open and it starts raining cats and dogs- thunder and lightning galore. I hate driving in bad weather when I really don't know where I am going. Plus, people tend to drive like idiots in the rain.
My flight out is delayed by a half hour, which leaves me 5 minutes to catch the connecting flight out of Chicago. I ask the clerk how the flight out of Chicago looks and he says that the flight of Chicago was running 45 minutes late. I am thinking Ok no problem, I'll make it home. Well, he lied! The flight was only late by ten minutes. I ran through the Chicago airport and got to the gate just as they were closing the door. Unfortunately, there was another family flying to San Jose and the clerk thought we were all together. I should have lied and said "my family" is right behind. But, I wasn't thinking to clearly and the other family was left behind.
On the flight to San Jose, I kept thinking that I had to run to catch the flight there was no way they had time to transfer my luggage. But, my luggage made the flight!
I used my old truck to get to the airport. I only drive my truck about once a month. Lately, the battery has been drained because of a short. So..before leaving I unhooked the battery cable. After reattaching the battery cable and a prayer or two, I tried starting the the truck. Lo and behold, the truck started!
I started thinking that the stars are aligned-this is my lucky Friday. The only item that would top off Friday was that my rocks would be waiting for me when I got home. Alas, I get home and no rocks! But, I figured out why, I didn't get home until 1AM. So... all my Friday luck ran out.
Still patiently waiting for my rocks!
