Great source for rock in south-central Tx is the Little Gallery & Rock Shop in Smithville , Tx. It's owned and run by Lorene Kohut, a prominent American artist and rock hound. It's located at 125 Kellar Rd. 78957 in Smithville and is well worth the drive from Austin or Houston. If you go be sure to ask if she has any Amethyst cathedrals in the back...she'll let you take a look if she does. She orders them direct from Brazil. The last time I was there she had a pair of 5 footers...beautiful! Here's the number: 512-237-3656

hehehe....So far. lets see...Forest Fire Jasper, Rain Forest Jasper, Amazon Jasper, Grave Yard Plume, Common Opal (yellow w/dendrites), St. Johns Flowering Plume, and LOTS of slabs, etc...
Seems like she always has lots of Tiger Eye and Iron as well as slag, obsidian, fossils, pet palm stumps, Amethyst Cathedrals, fossils, and more!!
Anyone in that area should pay her a visit but be sure and give yourself plenty of time...I've never made it out of there in under an hour...lol.

PMT - I've asked Loreen about that very thing..I offered to post some of her stuff online or even setup an E-Bay store for her but she doesn't want anything to do with that. She says that she makes 'enough' and isn't interested. I told her that I might want to re-sell some of her stuff in the future and she said that she wouldn't mind at all.
Anyway...if you ever find yourself in our neck of the woods it is for sure worthwhile to stop in and visit with Loreen...she's a hoot and has a lovely rock shop..heck you might even find a painting you like! She's a wonderful artist who paints mostly nature scenes.
BTW - Next time I go I'll ask her if I can take some pics of the place...and post 'em here....
Take care, Dan
