Hello, I was just curious if there might be anybody on these forums with a used 14 inch blade for a slab saw lying around they wouldn't mind getting rid of to a young lapidary like myself. I don't have alot of cash, but I can make a sacrifice for a new (used) blade if there is one available. I have a 14 in drop saw modeled after the lortone I assume that I got from someone on craigslist for 150 bucks. Quite the steal, lucky for me because that was about the only way I was going to be cutting any slabs on my own. Please let me know, it would be very much appreciated, and will go to a good home where it will get lots of enjoyment and use. I know I don't post much on here but I sure do love reading all the different things everybody talks about on here. Great community.
Thanks for your time and contributions ,
-Kasey
Funny story, I have had the saw probably around 4 months and only figured out today the blade was 14 not 12. Feel pretty silly but oh well wont make that mistake again. I'll post some pics of some slabs I did manage to cut with the saw, until the other day it was working really great, until I got impatient and decided to "swage" the blade edge. I had done it before and saw it's benefits, but this time I was too careless and tried to go too quickly and messed the blade up big time. Where it would bind in the cut instantly. I got it working somewhat today, by going real slow and taking my time and re "swaging" the blade as evenly as I possibly can. Still every slab I got it to cut today came out of the oil pretty warm, and when I was cutting translucent material I could see a lot of sparks inside the rock as it was cutting.

Let me look around, I think I have one somewhere.

well you'll never guess, but I measured my saw blade today and it turns out it's 14 inches. What do you know. This whole time I just stupidly assumed it was 12. Not going to make that mistake again. Thanks for the offer Tony, no worries if you don't have a 14 inch blade laying around. Probably should edit the title/original post.

I think I have some road cutting 14's, they have a weird size hole though. I will go out and look tomorrow.

If you are cutting with water you will see sparks and rocks will be warm.

Nope, advanced my techniques lately. Cutting with oil now. Can't believe I used to cut with water. And Tony that would be awesome, let me know if we can work something out.

Yeah I have one and it even has a 1" hole. Looks like it has lots of diamond left, has been sitting outside and is a little rusty but if you are cutting with oil it will clean up pretty quick.
I have several dozen 14" diamond blades with about a 3 or 4" hole if anyone can find a use for them.

That's awesome, thanks a lot. I will send you a PM and we can figure out details. Does anyone know an easy way to post a bunch of pictures? I want to make a thread with some pics of some slabs but it only lets me attach 3 per post.
