Found this website that carries lap. saw blades of different sizes and thought I'd pass it on www.mkdiamondoutlet.com/Blades/blades.htmI don't know if it would be worth it or not but you can check for your size blade. They also will take bids on blades..... Pho

I checked out the MK303 10" and the HotDog 7" and found them $7 to $10 more than I have seen elsewhere - this implies that they term OUTLET is not appropriate in thier site name.

I'm going for the 14" blade and so far they are cheaper than others I have seen. Some by only a few dollars and others by at least $30. I put in a bid and am waiting to see what they say. At this point,,I got nuttin' to lose but a little time.

I have one of those yellow guys with the 7" blade. I have not been able to find a replacement blade. If it says lapidary, is it the thin ones? The one replacement blade I did buy was really fat and wasted way too much material.
Ignorance is painful and expensive. Carol

Pho: Yup. I just bought a MK303 20" blade for $35 less than this outlet at Eloxite.com. Prices not real cheap for a so-called outlet. Checked Eloxite for the 14" MK 303 and it's $171.50 compared to $185 at the outlet store...mel

Carol If you want a thin but strongblade, you can try the HotDOg for about $48. I loved it, but can't justify the high end blade for the kind of chunkin gup rough I do. A few don't like the segmented rim. Many people get a Husky, but that is fat. Are you doing slabs only, or do you try to make small slabs out of 2-3 inch rough?

All I use if for is preshaping for tumbling and for cutting off the yukky stuff that comes on the coring leftovers. I would like to try some shapes but I am still quite the novice at this point.
Time spent running the saw is a visit to heaven for the nerves. I love this hobby.
Thanks for your time.

Has anyone bought blades from BUTW, who lists a lot of lapidary stuff on ebay?

I found a Hotdog MK225 for $45.00 on www.ajandb.com/blades/wetcont.html#hotdog Does that sound like a good price? I did not see an MK303 on the page. Daniel, thank you very much for teaching me a bit more about kerf. My word of the day! I am very grateful to the folks that share their time and knowledge with us noobs. I just went over one year with this hobby and 98% of my knowledge comes from this warm and wonderful group of people. You all are appreciated more than you know. Carol

Neat site- but there prices seem a tad high- but the info on the blades is and the size charts is very helpful!
