I bought a lotto and with it I got some 2mm ceramic balls. They didn't work for me and after talking with other lotto users, they didn't like them either. They didn't work good in any stage. I would say don't waste your money or time on trying them. Cylinders are the way to go. Just a FYI.

Yep Like the big cylinders but smalls seem to fall to the bottom and collect in the mud and polish. I have a twin lot-o in my fleet and don't care for the action or lack of action. Scheming on a bigger industrial type like Viking.

The tumbler king, turned faceting rookie is in the room folks. ChicagoDave How do you keep the action going strong in a lotto? Did the borax and still doesn't move quickly. The finer grits and polish doesn't seem to have the traction . Tried different loading with ceramics, moisture levels and still don't care for the lack of action. Some but not much Hows the faceting coming alomg? Have any time to work on it or just work? Cliff

Cliff, on the water level I only use drops. I put my hand in the water and the drips that come off are dripped in my lotto. It works well for me. If I used borax and the muck builds up and there is little to no movement.

I have a bucket of water sitting there too and let it drip too. Great minds think alike. grin You don't run any borax at all or just a little bit? Thanks for the help Dale.

I use a spray bottle, but it's the same idea. I fill the barrel with rocks and ceramics. Fill with water and then drain so everything is kinda wet. I only use Borax after the 120/220 stage. I give it a couple of sprays until everything is moving.

My Lot-O has a lot of action. It's rare to hear of someone who is not happy with the Lot-O. Like others have already said, fill the barrel with water and then drain it all out. After the 220 stage, I use one tablespoon of borax and 1/2 TEAspoon of 500, 1000, or polish. If it's moving too slowly, it's because of too much or too little water.

Yes, I agree with that being said. Too much borax is easy to do and too much water is the same way. The lotto takes a fraction of grit, water and borax as a rotoray tumbler. It will take a while but it does have a chance to save enough money to pay for itself. A good selling point to show the wife, if needed.

Yeah, too much water will make everything just sit in the barrel and do nothing. I use a Tablespoon of Borax in the 220 and when I do the finer stages I use a half tbsp since the finer grits lock up so easily.
