Did do my first cobbled thread on some I picked up from Buena Vista show Friday and some I collected at 12,000 ft on Monarch pass. Wouldn't want to embarrass myself with my little 2 ton pile in front of Mt Capn's No Penguin abuse??

Sure did a nice polish on your rocks fishnpinball . Of course with a name like fish and Pinball we were expecting such very shiny rocks. Rotary all the way of is that a vibed finish? Cliff

I am using a rotary to knock off rough edges and a vibe to finish. Been turning out some pretty decent rocks. Of course the self collected ones are the best! I like easy stuff like the petrified wood but it is interesting to see some of the material that you can pick out of the stream beds. Since I was near old copper and silver mines I was looking for a lot of greens... and Cliff I have a kayak to fish out of and 20 pinball machines in the basement.

You have 20 pinball machines in your basement?? No wonder there's none left on the planet. grin.. Wow that's really, really awesome. great stuff. Lots of classics I presume. And mostly working. Bet you had to become a mechanic and also fabricate your ownparts?? So fun.. I have fish in my basement , no pinball. sad look.. Middle one is a 17 and a half pound channel cat eating a loaf of French bread. .

I worked at a power plant so had intimate knowledge of electromechanical controls. I was thinking of getting a car or something to work on and saw a pinball machine and the rest is history.

Nuclear powered plant or coal fired steam turbines? Must be low pressure. 5-600 lb. systems and condensing water pulled from a river? Have the machines running? Good bumpers and flippers? What a cool deal. Cant find them anymore or at least the fun good ones. Many are electronic these days.

I did Nuclear power in the navy and was the only employee at a gas turbine till I retired again. I have the machines running and keep them up. Pinball actually reached a peak in fun playing machines in the early 90's and there have been a few ones that play well that have come out since. I keep my eyes open for a couple of really old machines from when I was a kid but as far as fun to play some of the ones that came out later are just wild. I made a mistake and did not buy a couple of the "expensive" machines (all good players) when I first got into it. Over 15 years the price went from around 4-5k to about 13k. Right now there is a pinball revival ongoing. For years there was only 1 manufacturer left and currently I know of 6 that are in commercial production. A lot of them go to the collectors market now.

Like hearing about the revival. A lot !! Nuke MM then? Went from 1200 pound plants to maybe 4oo pounds at a civie power plant?

Actually I was a tweaker(ET for non navy types) . That was before meth gave the term a bad rep. The Gas Turbine worked on a bit different principle. Peaking plant so not as efficient as a steam plant. I used diesel to power it once to empty out a tank full. I burned 7200 GPH at full load.
