Shawn really cares about his customers and takes a personal interest. I suspect what happens is that a trusted company unexpectedly drops the ball and blindsides him.

Just a reminder about how good The Rock Shed is - I called Monday afternoon and ordered enough grit, and some odds and ends, to fill a flat-rater. It was here waitin' for me when I got home from work today (Wed.) That's less than two days from South Dakota to Connecticut!!! Rich

Most suppliers, apparently including the Rock Shed, do not indicate that they use drop shipment, unless there is a problem. Then, a responsible vendor will get on the drop shipper's case like stink on crap. From what you say, Rock Shed probably did this as soon as they found out about the problem. Your disappontment is understandable, but Rock Shed's only real fault is not indicating in advance that they don't stock the item, so your mom would have had a choice. It is a very legitimate complaint. Thanks for letting us know to ask Rock Shed before ordering whether or not they have in stock the item(s) we are interested in. The problem with drop shipping is, that you're not getting from the source. Once you find out this info by whatever lesson, it's up to you whether or not you choose to back for another order. Personally, I go to the source for all my rock ordering. Grit can be from anywhere really, but not rock.

I had silicon carbide wheels once. I’ve never been disappointed with TRS!

Grit can be from anywhere really, but not rock. Now I'm not much of a tumbler, but I've read enough about it on the forum, to know that grit is pretty important & not all grit is created equal.
The tumblers on here, all swear by The Rock Shed's grit , so I tried it.
And you know after 6-8 weeks having a batch tumble, I'm pretty happy, they come out pretty shiny.
I'm glad I listened.

16 years ago….reminds me of that Abe Lincoln speech, “four score and seven years ago”; the fact of the matter is, when you buy something, either in person or by mail internet, sometimes things just go wrong. It happens to us all, doesn’t it? What matters is that in the end, things work out.
I’ve only just started trying out the rock shed, as I buy my supplies generally from other places and have never been seeing red with any of them. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. TRS however, has #500 AO, something not a lot of other places seem to have. And I’ve recently switched over to it as my go-to #500. So far, my experiences with TRS have all been great.
