Didn't know there was other sites. I looked around a bit but honestly, I don't like the format. I like our topics better. Anyway, good luck to gemaster. Tonja

I checked it out, did you notice it is a lot like ours? But one person has 145 posts and is already a "Rock God or Goddess". Tonja, there are actually a few out there, not as big as this one. Yep good old Gemmaster. Terry

Yep, you only need 5 posts to be a full member. The board is a pro board like ours here. I also noticed he was over at mindat trying to sell his rocks, with no luck.

Well, I like our board because everything is nice and neat. Their topics are so general and everyone seems to be miners and gemstone collectors. I didn't see anything about cabbing or wire wrapping or tumbling. Just collectors and sellers of minerals. I like this board and plan on staying right here. Tonja

;D The dirtyrockhounds site is not better, it is not worse - it is just different! I am new here, but have been a moderator there for several years. It is directed to people mainly interested in going on field trips and collecting specimens. The majority of the posters are from the Southeastern part of the country and are a VERY friendly group. The digs are all over the place and the best part is THEY ARE OPEN TO ANYONE!!!!
I am not trying to solicit anyone to leave here, just letting everyone know it is a good group of people.

The Gemmaster name sounds familiar to me. I only joined in Sept, so don't know the story. I would like to know what happened though. If you don't feel right posting it, please pm me.

I dont think anyone was trying to put the other forums down. I just see here like I am sure it is there. These forums are made up of a lot of very close people who seem to have known each other for quite some time. I personally prefer these boards because of the fact that there is so much variety in the different aspects of rock hounding, whereas the other forums seem to be leading more towards only a few of the areas. I am sure they are a great group of people just like we are here. Of course my intrests jump all over the place with this hobby but none the less I love every part about it. Let me throw out thanks again to everyone here for everything that they have offered. [Andy]

Since this thread is already at the top of the board, it doesn't matter if I put in my 2c. Can't help wondering how happy we are making GM keeping his name at the top of the board. Pretty darn cheap advertising. Let's keep that in mind when we choose a title for a new thread.

Spacegold, it's called "getting the word out" At least it's in the right section.
