look like bots to me. Nice stuff. Doesn't look like agate to me. More porcelain-y. The rind also doesn't look like a bit I have seen before. They have a large box and want $15/# Garage RockerSabre52

Yup, pink Botswanas. The exteriors may look a bit different due to heat treatment of the rough. Some bots have natural pink colors but I believe the light pink ones have been treated....Mel

Hey Bob we use those in the silver shop in Quartzsite. They work really good, amazing what that suction will hold.

Yup, looks like a basket of fun. Yeah, but a little bit steep in price, if I've done my math correctly. Dave

Yup, looks like a basket of fun. Yeah, but a little bit steep in price, if I've done my math correctly. Dave This store is a paradox to me. Keep in mind I owned a successful retail hobby store for a dozen years. They have a lot of things they "know". They don't carry Estwing tools. Why? Because they know people in their area have no money. They are spending their own wallet. Hobbyists love quality tools. But the rocks they sell. Like these bots. Came from an estate, presumably bought for dimes on a dollar. Whole-effing-sale. They are double and a half the price of other stores. Indian paint stone. The sandstone from death valley region. One can (illegally) go fill your truck up. They want $20/# for a 45# rock. No, my dear, I'm not giving you $900 for a rock you got for gas money. Yes, it's not legal to collect. Literally tons are in backyards within 100 miles of my house. 50¢/# for those sales. I had 2 Benjamin's in my wallet. She looked at me like I had 2 heads. Oh.... Their lease runs out in 3 months and they can't afford to renew. I wonder if they plan to take all this shit back home. Or they bought the bullet and renew.... Wow

Price does seem a bit steep. The Gem Shop sells Bots for about $12 per pound and I consider their prices fairly steep. Bot rough however, is not getting any commoner. Don't believe they allow much export of rough these days....Mel

Wow After re-reading your post, I went back and looked at the ebay listing. It all makes sense now...I know what store this is. I hadn't looked at the location when I first viewed it. The folks were friendly enough when I was there but not alot of things to get me excited about. Dave

Dave They also have field trips. $40 for six consecutive trips (one per month). If you miss a trip? Tough titty said the kitty when the milk ran dry. I asked them if we could go on one and pay $20/person. They said no. The reason given was record keeping is too difficult for one offs. Im thinking record keeping for start and stop dates in every single customer is way harder than collecting $10/person at the start of every trip and putting the cash in your pocket to split with partners later. Whatevers.

Whatevers. Yeah, Zactly. Some of their field trips look pretty ok, but they want a significant fraction of a pay dig price, and I'm not interested in the mineral collecting digs, so if I have to pay for all of them, forget it. Needless to say, haven't made it out to the store yet . . .
