Oh my, those are all wonderful! Not to take away from any of them, but the Rhodochrosite is particularly exquisite! And the OJ, and rutilated quartz, and... I love them all! Did you fill the voids with wax or anything before turning the ones with druse pockets? Can't wait to see your next projects. I used some Saran Wrap to sort of line the druse pocket, broke some packing peanuts to shove in it, then filled the remaining cavity with some plaster. The Saran Wrap kept the plaster off the druse so it stayed green and sparkly. I was afraid if I didn't cover it that I wouldn't get the druse clean. I am not sure if wax would work well. The sphere gets hot when it is grinding and polishing and the way may not stay in place, plus the wax would get on the cups and then all over the sphere. I think it likely would cause problems. Maybe someone with more experience than I can answer that one better?

Pretty crafty Rog. on protecting the drusy pocket. Really have turned out some nice spheres and quickly without a lot of fuss. Just went after it an did it. Most people would have been hesitant and especially with the choice and pricy materials. Awesome.

lol I actually had a nightmare about the colla-wood sphere. It is by far the most expensive piece of rough I have used to make a sphere. I dreamed there was a soft, fractured center inside the preform and when I put it on the 220 and turned on the machine, it turned a few times then exploded. The other spheres have been fun to make. This one is giving me indigestion... You sure did your self proud with your skill.

Roger, those spheres are top notch all the way! You have chosen amazing material! I would never be so brave with some of it. The rhodo and OJ spheres are amazing, but so is the crazy lace.... and ALL of them. If you don't mind my asking... how much does a sphere like the druzy oj run? It has to be a mint.

RogerI've filled vugs with wax successfully. Also hot glue. To remove hot glue use rubbing alcohol

Roger I've filled vugs with wax successfully. Also hot glue. To remove hot glue use rubbing alcohol I've thought about hot glue before myself. It seems like it would just peel out. It would probably take loose debris and dirt with it, too. I'll have to try it on a cab back sometime. I dop. Sometimes the wax gets into small voids. That might be overkill, though. Mostly I use a tiny piece of tape- that works for my purpose, too.

If the void in a sphere is open inside bigger than the surface hole, the the solvent gets in there to get it out.
