What is this new ebay shopping experience? rockjunquie help me! It won't even let me eliminate the buy-it-nows from my search! How do I just shop for auctions of lapidary materials in the horrible new universe? I'm in the lapidary materials category, and every time I click the "Auctions" button, the screen blinks, then drops me back to page one of the search, with "all items" checked. And, it won't show the ending time of an auction unless you click through! Aaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Are they TRYING to make me switch to buying on FB? (Not that I need to buy more rocks, but, you know, I WANT to sometimes!)

Might still be ebay's constant experimenting, too. If you ever elected to participate in their beta testing, go and turn that option off to see if makes any difference.
I noticed a few days ago that they are requiring "Buy It Now" buys to be paid immediately even from a seller who allows combining more than one item. Used to buy from them and combine multiple (auction and Buy Now) items, but now it insists on immediate payment unless going through their cart system, which does no good if you still have an auction item waiting to close. I'm not sure why they'd change to not allowing to add items after a Buy Now, but it cost the seller a lost sale on two items.

I messaged the seller and was like- What's up with that? Can't I combine shipping? He was so upset! He had no control over it and had no clue how or when it happened. He vowed to also use make an offer when using BIN, so that if I wanted more that one item, I could combine. I don't think the sellers are in on this stuff. Kinda like the etsy nonsense.

eBay is being weird for me today too. From All Lists, I click on eBay Bucks. It goes right back to the page I'm on. We'll see if it's better tomorrow. Lynn

It worked better on my work computer. A little bit anyway. Still showed ending time as "4 days 6 hours from now" or some nonsense.

What facebook groups do you guys like to buys slabs from? Our local guys catmandewe and roy jump around a lot but they are currently selling here: www.facebook.com/groups/FullMoonRockShop/Personally for me, outside of Tony and Roy's page I barely look at any of the slab sellers anymore. It used to be (last year) you could find some real bargains on slabs on Facebook but now most sellers have become auction happy and prices are skyrocketing out of control. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for capitalism - and God bless them they can sell at whatever prices the market will bear - but I refuse to pay many times over what I can buy the same slabs for at gem shows where I can see it, touch it, smell it, and examine for cracks. I guess it's easy for me to feel this way because the west (including socal btw) is blessed with shows and sales. The Facebook slab auctions seem to be driven by buyers from the east and south who don't have the same access.

*sigh* I gave up on E-Bay quite awhile ago. Used to use it to sell my sword/knife collection and some slabs and specimens. They just kept changing too much and becoming more and more expensive and complicated. Did well on prices at auction but a whole lot of trouble and E-Bay kept selling my stuff to international buyers when I asked them not to. All the customs paperwork and foreign rules and payments was just too awful...Mel

So I figured out part of my ebay problem is that my old "saved searches" don't work any more. Now that I've surfed to the search I want (lapidary materials, auction only, sorted by ending soonest), it works pretty ok. You still have to do math to find out when the auctions close, but other than that it's ok. And this time I saved my search as a bookmark in Firefox, not in ebay.
I'm enjoying Roy's and Tony's and (etc's) facebook auctions . . . haven't found Christopher's yet.
