A friend recently purchased some earrings with bright yellow/Sky blue and green "stones" in them. Was told they were real stones. Looks like Fordite to me, but wondering if anyone knows of a rock that is those colors. Only thing I can think of is clinker. if it is a rock. she really wants to know. Thanks.

Where did she buy them Fernie? Online? Not being a lapidarist (we need to make this a word) who works with finished nor precious stones as such, I can only say it has an opal like look to me but if bought online then it might be a faux stone. Something heat treated?

This is the same stuff that somebody saw on a vacation trip down to Mexico a few years ago. Was it Mario who posted the pics of it? I've seen it in beads a bit at shows. Almost certainly a conglomerate made from real stones and powder and other magical ingredients, of the ilk of mojave turquoise. Super pretty though. If it was a real stone like some sort of chrysocolla, it would be on the market and expensive, since it is so attractive.

Purchased at a boutique in Indiana. Most of their stuff is higher end. I did not think it looked like a real stone.
