Final work on a half acre field for veggie garden. Removed six 20 year old cypress stumps. $275 in 1.5 hours Nice and free cypress mulch! Poor guy, he quoted the 24 inches sticking up. He was surprised at tip of iceberg. Cypress stumps taper so much in the ground, some were 6 feet across. Yes, mulch galore. I made it right for him. Planted them 20 years ago, fastest growing tree this side of the Mississippi River. Fine lawn trees, tiny needles and rot into ground. grass grows well under them. |

Watched those machines in action myself too.... A buddy of mine has one,makes good money with it too...Always busy...

There were 24 mature cypress trees behind our swimming pool. Gotta go.
With a friend's help, we cut them down to about 10', removed all greenery, and sliced trunk into logs for winter fires.
To remove the remaining trunk and stump, we hired a man with his little bobcat. He just rammed into each trunk, and that knocked them over. Second time around, he used his scooper, scooped them up one at a time, hauled them out front and dumped them in piles for city garbage collection to haul away. Very little cost.
Same man and his little bobcat removed the swimming pool. Bob cat had lots of attachments. Neat to watch.

I sense you enjoyed the event. Back when we put the plant business in and cleared about 15 acres and dug a bunch of ponds I learned to put chairs and refreshments out for the show. Lots of giant machines, amazing to watch them. Had you guys done that work yourselves you would have been exhausted. Glad you hired it done. |

Those stump grinders are really loud too. A huge stump like yours in the pictures would set you back about $500 bucks locally. They also would charge you more for leaving the stump that tall. They like them right at the ground. Also have locally a bunch of people who carve people's stumps with chainsaws into whimsical and nature figures. Cheaper than removal.
