Howdy folks, Just a note about E-Bay seller psdrocks. I won several auctions from him last week and didn't question him about shipping because I thought I'd dealt with him before and he said he does combine lots to save on shipping etc. *L* What he didn't say is that he has a slug of hidden shipping charges not posted in the E-Bay listing and it wound up costing me $6.50 above flat rate costs for handling and an additional fee per auction lot. Grand total was $14.60 s/h for $5.00 worth of rock. Got the rocks today and they were as pictured and of good quality and he seems a nice enough fellow but I still think such hidden costs are unreasonable so I thought I'd give you all a bit of a heads up. I'd never complain except the posting made no mention of these extra costs and when I asked him about them he said he might have waived them if I'd won something "expensive" and that he had to cover his costs. To my way of thinking, the seller should cover his costs by posting an appropriate minimum bid and this fellow just made an extra $6.50 which incidentally did not count towards his posting fee or final sales fee he had to pay E-Bay. Maybe it's just me but this is not a practice I like and now I'll probably not buy from him again....mel

I don't blame you, Mel. I wouldn't buy from him again either. It's wrong not to post the handling fees. Charge whatever extra you want, but let us know up front.

mel are you saying he invoiced you for shipping charges that weren't stated in the auction? i don't mind paying a reasonable handling fee but i like to know up front that there is one and what it is so i can make that decision before i bid. afterward is not the time to spring it on you.

Kim: Exactly, he said he'd combine shipping to save money. No mention of handling charges in the posting but when he invoiced it was 8.10 for flatrate shipping ( what he spent) plus 3.50 handling plus $1.00 each for the extra three auction lots after the first one. $6.50 total which he pockets for simply putting the rocks in a box and sealing it up.....mel

Several years ago I bought 4 faceted stones from a seller. I wish I had written his ID down because I can't remember it now. He charged priority rates so I assumed that's what I was getting. He also claimed to combine shipping. What he didn't say was that his idea of combining shipping was doing the math and giving me a total. He charged me over $20 shipping for 4 tiny stones. And guess what? He sent them together in a padded mailer, uninsured, via parcel post. I asked him what was up with the high shipping and he claimed it went toward paying for the little plastic cases that each stone came in and the mailer. From then on I always ask the seller for a specific combined shipping amount on the auctions I'm interested in before I place a bid and I save the email with the answer incase I need to dispute it. There's been a few times I didn't like the answer I got and didn't bid at all. Sorry you got ripped off. I know it's a pain. Lori

It may have just cost the beer and sandwich he had while packing up the shipment! He had to have worked up a great thirst while working to cost as much as it did!
