Again, congrats to all that got entries in. Wouldn't it be fitting for a guy that doesn't tumble anymore to be the World Champ? What a way to go out! Pretty sure that's the only contest he's entered, 1 for 1 ain't bad. Go Dave!!! Dave will be back tumbling pretty soon. It runs in cycles. Surprised Randy that you didn't enter. You do a heck of a job tumbling, for a one legged guy with a squint..

I couldn't get five good ones. All of the rocks pictured look good. I hope RTHers take 1, 2, and 3. Good luck..the winners should hear something soon. Andrea

There is a post on their Facebook page saying the winners should be announced right after their show, which is this weekend. They also mentioned they might post pictures while the show is going on. So a few more days to wait.

So a few more days to wait. The first two years I entered they actually did two sets of votes. The members of the rock club looked them over and picked what they thought were the top 5 sets of rocks then they put those on display at the show and visitors got to vote on and that is how the top three were chosen. That way you had to pass a technical inspection and then basically a beauty vote. Chuck

Here is the info from the contest rules on their website. It looks like this year, both rounds are being done by judges.
8. During round one, judges will examine all submissions and determine the top seven as finalists. 9. During round two, judges will examine the finalists’ rocks under a hand lense. 10. Judges look for the following: polish left in cracks, flaws in the workmanship (not the rock), coatings or anything that brings out the polish other than the work and wheel marks on the stone. Wheel marks will disqualify the applicant.

The first year I did it at the end after it was over they sent out a slab to all the contestants of the same material we had tumbled and ran a side contest for best cabochon. I won a one year subscription to rock and gem magazine on that one. Chuck

First year was tuledad canyon agate and second year was brazilian agate. The brazilian agate was my favorite so far of all of them. Horribly fractured rough and very challenging. Chuck

Drummond Island Rocks Awesome job! The Tuledad Canyon is pretty. I've never seen it before. The Brazilians are beautiful. You deserved to win. Andrea

The results are in. Who won first place? I've got second this year. I'm shooting for third next year so I have one of each.
