Hi All,
I am really not into trashing companies even if I was unhappy with something. I just dont use that vendor anymore, end of story. But in this case I feel that there is potential for people going through alot of misery or possibly even getting hurt and so I am posting this. I dont want others to go through what I have.
Seven weeks ago I purchased an Inland All-In-Wonder. Within the first couple of weeks I found that the drainage was horribly insufficient for working with rock. The drainage hole is like the size of a pencil tip. How is rock slurry supposed to drain out of that for goodness sake?
My husband had to completely redo the drainage by drilling a larger hole in the top and then installing a brass fitting from the plumbing section of our hardware store. Finally I was able to cab without water filling up in the top.
Next, the hex set screw in my brass arbor stripped out and would not tighten. Again, my machine was down while I waited for Inland to send new ones. You cant saw grind and polish when your arbor wont even tighten. At this point my machine was only 4 weeks old.
At about this time, a friend of mine's motor died on her Inland. Her machine was only four months old! Inland replaced the motor.
Just last week, a guy from Australia was using his and something inside the motor blew and he received a horrible shock, was blown backwards and hit his head. Now, obviously he didnt have his protected with a GFCI but either way, the machines obviously have the potential to have electrical issues.
This brings us to now.........3 days ago, I sat down at my Inland to start cabbing. I turned on the machine and within 5 seconds the motor made a loud grinding noise and POP! the GFI kicked the machine off. I cringe to think of what may have happened if I have not protected myself with one. Now, the red power light will light up but the motor is dead. IT IS ONLY 7 WEEKS OLD!!! I have also only used this machine very lightly and for a total of about 10 cabs.
I contacted Inland 2 business days ago and told them of my ongoing issues. I told them I did not want a replacement motor. I want a refund. I have not received a single response from Inland.
I know Im not going to get a refund but I dont want their replacement junk. I have already ordered a different, better brand of cabbing machine as I do not want to continue having issues over and over again with their machine. I have basically wasted $400. I purchased the machine in the first place because it was a relatively inexpensive way to start cabbing. I am now seeing that I have made a huge error in this decision.
Im not trying to start anything with people that own these. I am sure there are some that are working fine. But they obviously have a tendency to have issues and I wanted to share this so that those of you considering an Inland will not go through what I have. Inland has a good name with glass cutters but I believe they are seriously jeopardizing their name by adding the word "lapidary" to their title. The motors in these little units are just seriously underpowered for working with rock.
