Hi all! Total newbie popping in from WI. I've had an interest in rocks forever but kicked it up a notch while spending a rainy day during vacation on the beaches of Lake Superior (Wi Side). I've been working on ID's for a few days but being a newbie I think I've just put more doubts in my mind haha! I'll work on photos for you more experienced lovelies later on

We always talk about moving to the mountains somewhere and then the fires happen and we thank our lucky stars to be in Wisconsin. Worst we get is the occasional Tornado. I'm sorry for all of you dealing with the fires!!
Thanks for the welcome!!

Welcome and a big howdy from Smokey Colorado.. No fires here.. Lots of folks from Wisconsin on here. All are really nice too !! Fires aren't much a problem in Colorado or most of the West We commonly see smoke from fires in the surrounding mountains but feel like its a good thing generally. Our largest fires in memory were both set by employed firefighters. The Barton fire was a bad one. Problem lies when people move into the wild areas and build homes. They are the ones who have a small chance of fire. MEDIA WILL SENSATIONALIZE ANYTHING TO MAKE AN EASY BUCK. GRIN..

Welcome from Michigan. I pick rocks in Lake Superior too (although I live by Lake Huron), and I can't identify lots of them. I have a couple books on Lake Superior rocks though, so I might be able to help with some.
I love your user name. You need to get a little older and grow that beard a little longer though.
