This is a really cool stone here. And what it consists of makes it that much more interesting. I have some similar material that is way to soft for tumbling that I should send you if you'd like. I don't know how to make cabs so I have no use for it if you're up for another challenge? Being that it is soft, have you considered a hand made cab using sandpaper or a dremel? Lots of people do it. You should give it a shot. If you still would rather pitch it- send me PM. Have any of you guys ever capped this stuff with quartz to make a doublet? You've given me some ideas on how to cab some nice rhyolite wonderstone that's a little too grainy to polish well.

No, but that is a good idea. I just wonder if it is too porous. Maybe you should start a thread and see what others think.

Fine wine gets better with age., The profile may change but the contents mellow and become more satisfying to the palate. Poetry to my ears. LOL! All three of them? Some wines turn to vinegar if not properly handled...

Love the rhyolites except for the polish aspect. Maybe a pretreatment of that hot stuff to seal it?? rockjunquie would know..

I don't know what would happen if you tried to use an epoxy over crazy glue. Could pop and lose adherence there causing a lifting bubble. Don't really know.

Three ears? No. But, I do have 2 eyes in the back of my head. Just ask my kids. I never got close to being vinegar. Not even. I don't stick around if I'm not treated properly- like any self respecting woman.

Candy is better than the Utah and there's a rhyolite looking jasper in Nevada being mined close to Wonderstone Mountain by Fallon that's super hard. They're calling it Nevada Royal jasper.
