As promised, here is the first of several posts of geodes I have collected over the years. Most were collected with some $$$ at Quartzsite, but others such as Hauser Beds, Lucky Strike Mine and Valley View Mine, were collected on site. The first group are Trancas geodes. They are characterized by thin walls lined with swirly patterns of chalcedony coated in sparkling crystals. One of my favorites to cut. With these, I prefer to cut a single, thin face off and leave a deep crystal filled cavern rather than two shallow halfs. They are generally 4 to 6 inches across. The back side This one shows the classic black and white agate on the rind and multiple crystal types Hope you enjoy. Zacatecas tonight of tomorrow... Craig
