Well, I've found out the hard way that you have to request the discounts! YIKES! He does apply a small discount based on what you purchase as long as it's listed with the discount rules. However, (and this is important) you have to email him after your multiple purchases then wait for the 2nd invoice to receive a VERY REASONABLE DISCOUNT!You just have to follow his rules & you can get some great deals as I'm sure a lot of people avoid many of his auctions due to his (what looks to be excessive shipping charges). Word to the wise. Last

They are excssive charges, but works out okay when you get a deal on the rock. Says they won't do flat rate cause they don't want to go to the post office - even though the post office will pick up.
I've bought a few lots from them and will do so again when the price is right. Just remember to factor in shipping - even combining doesn't reduce as much as you'd think.

True, true. It is definitely not FRB rates. But he offers some pretty unique lots from time to time & a patient person (read rock hound tumbler) can get a great deal though it's not the least on the FRB pricing. The real trick is to ask for the "combined shipping discount" as he does charge a handling fee though it's listed as a shipping charge. As an example. We were sent an invoice on 4 items & therre was indeed a dicsounted shipping charge on our invoice. However after requesting the discount through an email on the last item won the shipping went from $20.46 to $12.50. The original shipping through just briefing his listing would lead you to believe that the $20.46 was indeed the discounted price. But, it is not! You need to ask for it! Last

There was a thread started on Astrogallery's shipping rates a while ago. The real reason he refuses to do flat rate is the kickback he gets from U.P.S. If you use them exclusively they give the shipper a hell of a discount. Astro has not passed this saving on to buyers in the past. They simply shoved the money in their pockets. Good business practice but BAD P.R. when someone gets wind of it. There was a lot of chat on this issue with them and they must have gotten a little fallout from it. I suspect that is the reason they will bend a little now BUT only if you insist on it. I would bet that 99% of their customers don't. I got hit $24.00 bucks to ship an $18.00 piece of rough a couple years back. He got me ONCE, and that's the end of it. I won't be back. I would like to make him the offer of kissing my cubby little Iowa corn fed A-- , BUT , I really don't think we need to go there.
