UGOTGLASS had 6 leaf findings that i wanted for the price of $7.00,which is ok but they wanted $12.50 shipping for an item that weighed 1oz. at the most. I would NEVER recommend that Co....Rocky

Dang! That's a pet gripe of mine too. I can't stand it when dealers use shipping or handling costs as a money making tool. For cripes sake, they should just charge what it costs for actual shipping or raise prices on the item if they need a certain profit margin....mel

Sounds like you ran into a brother of the guy that the wife got tangled up with in Cal. that runs Eleganceforu. B-----d wanted $30.00 to ship 3 pieces of Cz. I imagine UGOT got some choice feedback, or should have.

$12.50 for shipping on a couple of findings is out of line. I order again and again from a vendor that is straight up with me about shipping.

I found this post by accident while surfing and wanted to reply even though it's years later. Our shopping cart is fairly limited in how it calculates but we would never charge the $12.50 for a pack of leaf bails. We always adjust the shipping cost prior to charging customers cards. One of the problems is that if we offer 1st class shipping options via the cart then customers will select this for things like Kilns which cannot ship that way; so we've found it more practical to adjust during our own processing. If you ever have any questions about ordering from us we have our phone number and email addresses on the site and are happy to speak to you.
We buy things online ourselves and know how awful shipping charges can be so we do whatever we can to lower the cost whenever possible.
Best, Nancy Tang UGotGlass.com

Nancy, thank you for your reply. It's not very often a vendor will explain. I will have to check out your site.

It is my pleasure to explain. I'm not only a supplier, I'm an artisan as well and I use everything we sell; if I don't like it we won't sell it.
We also offer a number of free how to projects on the site, most ly for glass fusers.
Have a great day! Nancy

Hmm... I've never seen this post until now, and I've purchased a few items in he past from UGOTGLASS, never had any issues myself. Plan on shopping there more.

It's great to see a vendor that will stand by and explain their policies or technological difficulties. I appreciate that.
On another note, I'd like to let everyone know about an e-bay vendor Sansrock. On 3 separate occasions, I have bid on and won a number of slabs. Many of these slabs went for 99 cents. Several went for what you would be willing to accept. The bill for my materials were $4.77 for the last order and $7.27 for the one before. In both cases, the shipping bill was in the neighborhood of $12. If it was an FRB, I get it. The little boxes that arrived were not. My suspicion is that in the e-bay world, low winning bids are often supplemented by over-blown shipping charges. I am now stepping back from the soap box.

I am constantly buying from a vendor on ebay, dh-minerals, mainly finished items, specifically fossils, spheres and eggs. Never met a better ebay vendor (well, discounting those members here, of course). He holds my purchases unitl he can fill an FRB and charges me straight across the FRB cost. I have spent over $1k in the last 8 months from him, and never an issue. Just saying....

Nancy, I have the same problem. I ship from wherever I am and use drop ship orders from all over the country. I have to use a UPS schedule that covers coast to coast. I have LARGE notices on the website explaining shipping charges are charged at actual (usually less). When you use UPS everything from 1 oz. through 15 oz. is ONE POUND. $12,50 is actually pretty reasonable. I ship everything I can by Priority Mail which is usually cheaper up to 10 lbs. Of course, flat rates help with small heavy things above that. I'm glad you were able to respond. I completely see it from your side. I'm sure I lose sales because of this issue. On the other side, when someone close accepts a high shipping charge they are really happy when I correct it much lower.

Bob, it would be cheaper if you drove down to Mt. Olive, NC to sansrocks place. I have known him since the late 60's and he has piles of slabs, if you can get to them. He has let his place go and it is head high because he cannot get out to mow it because of health problems. That is still no excuse for high charges for shipping, though. Ken
