I just finished up a batch of tiger's eye. Most of this was a gift from Drummond Island Rocks. Chuck sent me a big box of it after coming up to hunt Petoskey stones with me. Thanks Chuck! The rest of it was from an awesome box I bought from ChicagoDave. The red stuff came from Dave. Thanks Dave! There are a lot of new tumblers here lately. If you haven't tumbled tiger's eye, I highly recommend it. It shapes up fast, doesn't have holes, and takes an excellent polish. I haven't done any in a rotary tumbler, but it's super easy in a Lot-O. My favorite:

Great batch! And I agree, everyone should give this material a try.

Those came out great Rob. Tiger Eye is a bit underrated for lapidary because it is so readily available. When I first got into the hobby and did not know rare from common it was one of my favorites just based on looks. In my experience selling at shows it is one of the rocks that most kids can identify when they look at my tumbles.

Does all tigereye have a "dark side". By that I mean from some angles the reflection goes black. No color no shimmer.
I haven't had much and the pieces I have all do.

Super shine! Makes for an impressive pile of tumbles. I haven't run any for a while, may just have to break up some more.

Nice shine Did break them or cut them? Or did already get them in pieces of the right size?

Great batch Rob Jugglerguy. I've got a bunch I need to roll, but I haven't had a chance to get to it. For me, it hasn't been foolproof. Just when I think it's good to go, I find pits. For me it's been tempermental. Good job. Dave

Nice shine Did break them or cut them? Or did already get them in pieces of the right size? Most of them were the correct size when I received them. There ere some that I broke and a couple that I had trouble breaking so I cut them on my saw. Does all tigereye have a "dark side". By that I mean from some angles the reflection goes black. No color no shimmer. I haven't had much and the pieces I have all do. The top and bottom of the stuff I got from Chuck had a layer of hematite. I tumbled all or most of that off, but the top and bottom tend to still be dark no matter which way you turn it. The sides sometimes go dark if you view them from a certain angle.
