Are those white marshmallows on its back eggs? I noticed some have more. Odd that I think caterpillars are cute, or at least interesting, but moths give me the willies.

I was looking at your pics on my phone earlier, didn't see the detail. I can see those bristles now. It's a cool little critter. You find all kind of interesting things around there. |

We find that guy on our crab apple tree in the front yard. I've always liked caterpiggles. Have an audubon book of caterpillars right next to the bird identification book. Truth is, I did have to google it, cuz I was at work and I had just been calling it the bristled moth guy. A few aren't a problem, but we had a bunch one year and they really caused trouble for the tree. Its unusual to find a bird or caterpillar that I haven't seen before around my house. But I did see a bird last month that had me jumping up and running out front. My husband thought I was crazy at first...then he just realized I was looking at a bird. I had never seen this guy before a Hooded Warbler. (not my picture)  This guy was my favorite unusual moth that I have seen at my house to date. Imperial Moth. He's quite big like 4+ inches across.  |
