Needing advice for near future. I have a lot of beautiful Nazlini, AZ Pet Wood. Know this material is hard to cut without it "blasting" apart. Would rather keep as display pieces if there is no way to slab and make into cabs.
Does anyone have experience with this material and willing to share "secrets" with me? Thank you. If needed, I can share the potential saw I would be using and candidates for slabbing. Some are up to 10 lbs in size, but only 4" wide by 2.5" thick. Just long. Most have the darker "bark" showing on the outer edges of length. I am considering trying an initial cut and seeing what happens before making final decision to proceed. Thank you

Before you mount it in the saw, fill all the cracks (both sides) you can with a thin cyanoacrylate glue (I use Starbond "Super Fast Thin", EM-02). Make your end cut. While the rock is still in the saw, wipe the face with acetone. Cut a piece of cardboard, smear the glue (you can use the Starbond medium for this) all over the cardboard, and apply to the rock cut face. Let dry, make your second cut. When you have the piece with the cardboard, wipe the cut surface with acetone and glue the back. Cardboard will dissovle in water.
Tedious, I know. A lot of wood is not worth this much trouble. But if you have a colorful full round it's worth doing.

^^^. Yes!
And use a hose clamp to hold it together in the saw.

I just slabbed (Windowed) a huge piece of that material....I super glued (Starbond, thin)it,let it set for a few days, than cut it...Glued the face again, let it set, than sanded and polished it... Doesn't look half bad... Did it for a customer.... Yes,very unstable material....

some people put the piece of wood into a bucket or something and pout cement around it and set the saw very slow on the feed rate to keep the fractures down
