Well this isn't regarding rocks, but I placed an order with FMG yesterday afternoon online $13 for the order - I checked shipping, UPS was $58 to Canada (ummm, I think I'll see what the other options are) by canadian mail was $16 and took 5-15 days to get to customs and FedEx was $17.50 (3-5 days to customs)- so I opted for FedEx - got home tonite and there was this box - already here from the states - WOW I'm still waiting on an order from Canada that was sent out on June 4th and another that was sent out last Wednesday They got my attention!!! - well worth the $17US that I paid for shipping (and I forgot to order some stuff from them but I remembered too late - maybe next time)

I've had nothing but good dealings with Fire Mountain over the years. They ship very quickly and don't have minimum order requirements. Glad you're happy, too

l've shipped a few things to Canada, through ebay and l've found if you pay the extra $1.80 or so for air it can knock lots of time off delivery,2 items shipped at same time, parcel post took over 34 days, with air it took 4 days,E last definition l saw for expert - "ex-spurt"- "a has been drip under pressure"

I've found Fire Mountain to be great as well. Plus, they package things prettily, give free gifts and even say thank you. Extra touches that aren't necessary, but definitely create a favourable impression!
I think shipping time all depends on the mood customs is in on the day the package gets to that point. I've given up on paying extra for faster shipping because it's not the postal service that causes delays, it's customs. i.e. one time my mom (in North Dakota) sent two packages (exact same contents & weight) to our house as a test - one by air USPS and one by ground USPS. I figured they'd get here at the same time. My mom was told the air mail package would get here within two weeks. The air package took a month to arrive. The ground (& cheapest way) took 11 days. Go figure. The only thing I have learned to be consistently true is that I always ship through the government postal service because with UPS and the others you end up paying additional customs and brokerage fees. I have a couple of UPS nightmares where the fees ended up being way more than the price of the item itself. Apparently the government services have an agreement of some sort that private companies don't have access to.
