Here's about 10 pounds of Botswana agates and Brazilian agates I sliced up last weekend. These just came out of the tumbler after their first week in stage one. Going to be a really fun tumble. Chuck

Those are coming along nicely. I ordered 25 lbs. of baby Brazilian agates from Kingsley North, but their supplier is in Texas and won't be able to get them for about a month due to the hurricane. I have some Bots in rough now. I didn't cut any of my bots. I'm starting to think that I should have. Some have nice banding now, but others are looking pretty plain. I think I'll cut those plain ones when I do a clean out next Saturday.

That's great stuff Rob Jugglerguy. I still have a bunch of bots, and your work is tempting me to cut them before tumbling. Not sure what I'll do, but great work nonetheless. Dave

I put a brand new $45 MK303 blade in the trim saw when I started these and used up over half of it just cutting 10 pounds of them into halves. Chuck

I do like the way cutting them in half really exposes the agate patterns.

Chuck, that is going to be an awesome batch! Please post some pics along the way before they get to polished.
Rob, don't cut your Bots! Let them run. May have to add them to other batches for months before they get there, but it will be worth the wait. Like getting to the center of a tootsie pop. It's amazing when the "plain" outside finally gets worn away.

Rob - Cut 'em and you are likely to only have the banding show on the cut face, as they probably won't run long enough to remove the plain outer layer around the entire rock. Let 'em run whole and you will have the banding showing surface wide.
I put some in a load in February, my first time for Bots. After 3 or 4 months, I still had just plain grey rounded rocks. I'm thinking what the heck, did I get duds or what? Pulled most of them out and threw in my maybe someday bucket and just let 3 continue to run. Still just boring and with no banding at all.
The 3 are in a barrel I'd just blown off for sometime. I last checked the barrel on July 30. Opened it this past Friday, Sept 29th, so it had been running for 2 months. (yeah, I know... I'm a tumbling slacker) Outer plain layer entirely worn away. May have happened a month ago... I don't know! But the Bots are fantastic. Moved to AO 500 pre-polish. Will keep a closer eye on them now that I know they aren't duds!
Have a box of these things that I got some years ago. Now that I know, I will be looking for that box. The tumble will take awhile, but that's not unusual around here! They sure are worth the time when you get down to the center treat.

Those look great! I especially like the dark ones with the light banding!
