It's no secret that RTH has the best members of any forum, anywhere, period. This month we will raffle off five boxes of material generously donated by our members to the benefit of RTH. October auction #5 is a medium flat rate box with approx. 13 lbs of gorgeous oak petrified wood from the Stinking Water mountains in Oregon, generously donated by woodman. This is some really beautiful wood in sizes perfect for slicing and cabbing. Per woodman the material is opalized and thus not great for tumbling but for cabochons, holy crap, I can tell you that it's spectacular. At woodman's suggestion I created a big beautiful cab from the material, and I have decided that I will include the cabochon in the auction if the bid reaches $100. Auction DetailsStarting bid: $30 Minimum increments: $2 Freight: MFRB $12.40 Payment: Paypal Auction start: immediately Auction close: Sunday 10/15 at 7pm pacific (10pm eastern) MFRB with approx. 13 lbs of Stinking Water mountains petrified Oak wood. Happy Bidding!

In case people are interested, this paperweight is the same material as about 1/2 of what is in the box. It is part of a root ball we dug out a few years ago.

I forgot to mention the root ball. When this is all said and done I want to talk to you about buying some of this material if you have more. It's beautiful - I fell in love with it making that cabochon - so clean and easy to work with and it didn't break when I fully expected a patterned wood to break.

This is the photo I sent to Tommy. Thought I would add it here to show the root ball stuff better. Note golf ball for size reference. Happy bidding!
