Hi everyone I am a lapidary hobbyist from western WA. I'm new here, but have been making cabs for a few years. I look forward to seeing what some of you guy's and gal's have made, and sharing the stuff we learn. Here is my Flickr page to get an idea of the stuff I make. www.flickr.com/people/154484994@N05/

Thanks for the warm welcome Walt, I've been at this for a few years now. Last year I stumbled upon a huge collection of "old stock" from a lapadarist from the 60's. Ever since then I have really been enjoying getting into some of the crazy plume, Trent, and tube agates.

Ocean Shores, it's a peninsula at the mouth of the Chelalis river. Living here is what first got me into rockhounding, there is a 3 mile long gravel spit extending into the harbor. So after a few thousand trips I was hooked. =)

Welcome from Tennessee damonpointagates. Beautiful cabs on your Flickr site, wow. What's the light blue agate cab with the dimpled surface?

Greetings MrMike that is a Ellensburg Blue agate that I cabbed. Here's how I do the 'stormcloud' cut. imgur.com/a/U0acK

Welcome from KY, where we have a lot of limestone. Good for bluegrass, bourbon and horses, not for rock collecting. Beautiful work in that album. Thanks for sharing!

Welcome from KY, where we have a lot of limestone. Good for bluegrass, bourbon and horses, not for rock collecting. Beautiful work in that album. Thanks for sharing! It would be home for some of the most beautiful agate in the world if a few old timers (like your friend with the backyard full) hadn't relentlessly collected and hoarded it all 50 years ago. I guess that's the same story in a lot of places in the west too.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome everyone.
Those KY agates though, legendary stones.
