Finally got a rainy day and an excuse to lay off staining my deck and fence. Set up the tile saw just inside the garage and spent some time prepping material I've purchased recently. Wish I had the room in my tumblers to get it all going. Some of the material was inspired by recent batches I've seen posted by others.
Got 25 lbs. of nice Montana's the other day. Plenty more of these in the bucket.
Jugglerguy had a nice batch of tiger eye recently. Some of what I cut.
Some of it didn't need any prep, thankfully.
Couldn't pass this up, after seeing tkvancil Ken's batch.
Well, the fun part's over, now the work begins. And the waiting.

Those are going to make a beautiful batch of tumbles! Thank You for reminding me that I have a tile saw š Sometimes I get tired of being inside the shop all day. Think Iām going to get my little tile saw out so I can cut some outside on some of our perfect weather fall days.

Looking good!
The finished product should be Garage Rockin' Good!
In some recent tumbles I've had a few pre-cut/formed pieces in the mix. They certainly finish faster than other rough.

Looking good! The finished product should be Garage Rockin' Good! In some recent tumbles I've had a few pre-cut/formed pieces in the mix. They certainly finish faster than other rough. I like to tumble whole pieces when I can, Bahia's are some of my favorites to throw in whole, but others I cut to either reduce the size or show patterns on the inside. A lot of the Mexican material I have gets cut so I can show the banding in there. The Rio I cut above there was too big to roll in my tumblers without beating up everything else up. I like how it looks in there anyway. I do try and cut out or smooth over some of the rough spots and divots on harder material like Montanas, just because they have to roll so long otherwise.
I like your homogenous batches, I think it's impressive to see a big pile of the same material all polished up. There are several people here that do that. My tumblers are so full of a hodge podge of material, it would be hard to clear one for a dedicated batch. Maybe I'll dump one of my 6 lb. barrels and use those to fill in the others at cleanouts. That Blue Lace may be a good candidate to roll by itself.
