in ny if someone owns the property on both sides of the creek then they own the creek or riverbed as well. you can boat through but of you drop anchor or get out (if its shallow) and touch bottom you can be ticketed. thanks to a local senator who owns a large amount of land on the popular salmon river. since they passed the law the dec cops patrol that stretch of river heavily every year during the salmon run. Check your local, state, laws. It depends on different factors. In Oregon on navigable streams you are good up to the high water line.

Where Adam is likely hounding, you are better off getting caught by the law than the landowner. Getting permission can be tough, but it's necessary.

It's season now ya know. I don't think the other person was duck hunting. I went rock hounding today, sure enough. Didn't find much. Didn't have no trouble, nada. Except for weeds. Too bad I don't my own property by the creek, that way I could hunt on my own, private land, 'cause there ain't too much public land that is good enough to rockhound around Kentucky. But that's not the case, no land here, I would have to work for my land. I'm not making any money with the rock business(maybe I am doing it wrong?). I need a proper job, or I need a hookup. Something.

Something. Well it's early season and wood ducks both taste good, look good and live on rivers. Yes, make the changes you describe
