Dug up some rough Rosebud agate jasper? This is really nice stuff to work with. You can see some cabbs done by rockjunquie in one of her threads.the coin on the pictures is a silver dollar. For comparison. Sorry for the bad photo's.as far as i know this material is becoming more rare. Trying to google info is no real help. But if anyone knows any more about it info would be appreciated. Sabre52 Mel made a comment about it being found in older collections and that is where i found this stuff. And recently i had a chance to pick through some old steel drums of rock that been out on this farm.the guy told me he had the drums for nearly 35-40 years and he got them from a guy he did work for. That had them since he was a young man. And low and behold there was rosebud in them drums also. I had a chance to pick some rocks out them steel drums. ? #1 the rough #2 the rough wet #3 #4 Thanks for looking.

Great farm find. But why does the silver dollar look like a buffalo nickle?

If you ever cut anymore slabs, I'd love to see them and maybe buy some if you want to part with any. I have fallen in love with it.

It's a repro. I have one, too. Thanks, I was a little confused. Yeah fernwood like tela said they minted them in 1986 and in 2007, mine is a 2007. My niece was a manager at a quick mart for a long time. I would buy all the silver coins at face cost. Sometimes i couldn't believe what would come through there.them where some good ole'days.

Wow, that is very nice looking rough. I spotted a couple of slabs at a California show one time but the only time I found a hunk of rough was in an old collection from the 1960's. Apparently, not too many folks went on Layton ranch field trips even way back then...Mel

Dug out every last piece i could find. A nice assortment of it nice tumble piece's to larger pieces. I know another guy that has been wanting pendants from me. He doesn't want to pay for them but always has good stuff for trade. He wanted 2 more pendants so i told him i would like to see his rocks. And finally he invited me over to see them i picked out about a dozen nice cutter size and he threw in a bench grinder. He has 3 steel drums of rocks i may end up with them fingers crossed.

That is a cool find. One of my rock hunting buddies back in Commiefornia met an old guy with a collection in the yard so long it had sunk in the ground. He wanted it removed so offered it to my friend at a tiny price if he would dig it out. Unbelievable what he brought home but the eye poppers for me were a several hundred pound hunk Of Edison Palm root and a huge very unfractured boulder of poppy jasper. I know another guy with a big rock yard near Bakersfield that has a beautiful poppy boulder in his garden I could never talk him out of. So frustrating!...Mel

Hello again sorry for bring up this thread again. It has been bugging me since i posted these pictures. I can't help but think there is two different types of rocks here. If you look at the first two photos the three bottom rocks look different then the two on the top. I am thinking i mixed them up when sorting them. I have been looking at them and they look to different to be the same similar in color but different. The bottom three do not have the grey or greenish color matrix that the top two have. Any help what do you think?

I've only ever seen a couple of pieces of the material and they all had the pale green. Don't know if there was variation or not in the material but none of that bright yellow in any I've had, so I supposed your pics could show two different materials....Mel

Only after washing these specimens and taking photos i seen the difference in the two. The colors in the three bottom pieces show more bright and vibrantly. The #3-#4 photos the rosebud rough so the other pieces do you have any idea what they might be?

Yellow could be from the bottom or top or one end of the deposit.
