I ordered some of the AA top quality ocean jasper from Madagascar Minerals, and was very disappointed with what they sent me. The pics on their website show some very nice OJ, what they sent me I consider to be low-mid grade. I used their website contact form to express my dissatisfaction, and it claims they will reply within 24 hours. Well, it's been 12 days now, and no reply.... I feel I pretty much wasted my money on this transaction. Before anyone else makes a purchase of OJ from them, you might want to check out this thread, where I show pics of what they sent. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1186014459&page=1

That's a shame. I don't remember what year I saw Ocean Jasper at Quartzite for the first time. I thought it was nice but too expensive. Later at the QIA/PowWow I saw some finished cabs and decided I had to have some.I went back and of course all the rough that was any good was already sold. I figured by the next year the newness would wear off and prices would drop. Never happened. It seems to me prices have remained stable but quality has gone down hill. Do you agree?

Ahhh OJ- never has any stone had such a great Marketing Scheme- Don- you got ripped- the stuff they sent barely passes off for tumbling grade- I think the only reason they could call it OJ was because of the few pitiful orbs it contained- I've pretty much given up on getting good OJ anymore- Thanks for the heads up on MAd Min.

Speedy, good post. This site is really about tumbling and cabs so your post was perfectly appropriate.

I have bought some things from a dealer with the same name Madagascar Minerals for a couple of years now at the Franklin, N.C. wholesale show. They are nice people and have good material and prices! I don't know if they are the same ones or not. They always have a lot of fossils and Labradorite. Keith
