Hey folks! I went and checked out this lapidary sale yesterday:

Not sure how much longer the add will be up so I’ll copy:

Lots of lapidary materials --
Slabs - hundreds - mostly jade, petrified wood, dinosaur bone from Western US; rough rocks
Nice cabochons, polished slices for jewelry
Fossil and mineral specimens, large rock display bookends
Finished jewelry, jewelry findings

Also American Indian style ceramics done by these artists

Okay so I showed up early of course lol.. only half an hour though. An elderly gentleman greeted me in the driveway and said “Nope we’re not ready yet.. go grab a cup of coffee or something” I said I’ll just wait in my truck. A couple minutes later he came out to the curb and said “The ladies said come on in.. they’re still setting up though.” No prob! 

Started making a stash pile and soon enough others started showing up. By the time I had what I wanted the place was packed. Paid and left.. here’s what I bought:

Paid $80 for the bones in the flat and $30 for the nodule box.

My $25 bone. It's solid and agatized and I weighed it when I got home.. just under 21 lb

Nodule box.

$8 for this solid agate yellow bone, 4 1/2 lb

Assorted chunks and slabs

Picked this up.. Blue Mountain Maybe?

chunka neat wood

not sure but cool as heck

Nodules

Mostly agatized barite nodules I believe

some uncut agates

and some assorted stuff

Some pretty cool stuff for a nice price.. thanks for lookin'

Feel bad for some of the stories i might have made up but usually worth it. Bet your happy you got there when you did. Nice hounding.

You got some great Dino bone! The agatized barite looks great too. Much more color than any I've seen, bought, or found.
I was at the Moab Gem show a couple of weeks ago & got some great bone, but not as colorful as yours, not the quantity you got & way more $$ than you paid.
$8 for that 4.5 lb yellow one? what a deal. There's a red slab that is the epitome of what bone can be.

Very nice. I went to a rock estate sale years ago. About an hour or so drive and everything was two 5 gal. buckets for a dollar. I expected to find nothing left, figuring they must have sold anything good. I spent $7 (14 buckets) and it was a pretty nice load for a little Toyota. Turned out the old couple was moving to a retirement home and wanted rock hounds to enjoy their lifetime of treasures. I got bone, copralite, lots of AZ and other big wood chunks, some polished, Howlite, opalized wood, etc. Amazing stuff and all from piles buried in leaves in their back yard. Many old collections end up at the landfill or as garden rock when the old timers are gone.
