I did not know this till today. The longtime owner of the 50-95 rockshop Wally Marks passed away several months ago. This shop is located in Fallon Nev. I spoke with his daughter in law today. And the shop will be under new ownership by mid October. She said there are literally tons of material. I got a nice deal on some rough. Website is www.Fallonrockshop.com Might want to give them a call. Speedy

I had heard he passed away and the shop was for sale. He was a great guy. We were up in that area almost 10 years ago. He gave our group a map to his Wonder Stone claim and permission to collect for free as much as we wanted. He had a yard full of rock at that time.

I was just out there last month to check out the shop. Lots of rock and equipment for sale. A guy named Gregg showed me around the place...not sure if he's the new owner.

I stopped in there yesterday, Gregg and his wife are the new owners, really nice people- I got there just before their posted closing time, started poking around a little inside, then Gregg grabbed me and we went out back- and in an hour barely scratched the surface of their stock-
MAN OH MAN, do they have a LOT of great stuff there, he said he is still "discovering" stuff Wally had stashed away- saying there are tons of rough is a gross understatement, Gregg said Wally had bought out several rock shops when their owners had passed away, so there are still vast stacks of boxes and bins full of material that haven't been opened.
They also have a great inventory of equipment, vibe laps, saws, arbors and such, can't say I'd ever seen a 36" slab saw before, I think you could just about park a car in the enclosure!
Yes it is out in the middle of nowhere, but unless you are a Tucson or Quartzite regular, I seriously doubt you have seen a selection of high quality rough this extensive, and I highly recommend a visit, could even be worth a field trip from far away....

A few years ago, my wife and I went to the Mothers day rock show in Reno. We took a side trip to the rock shop. Spent a bunch of time looking around but didn't buy anything. We were serious about buying a used HP slab saw, but it was more than we wanted to pay and his price was firm. Very good selection of used equipment.
