;D I really can't say enough about Val Carver, the owner. He is exceptionally knowlegeable about rocks and equipment and a great teacher. Also,he will not sell products he considers inferior and troublesome like Inland. Recently he sold me two nice items:1.a Lortone LRG clamp which was just what I needed to solidly hold odd-shaped rocks and use up some butt ends.He sold me his display unit because apparently Lortone doesn't make them anymore.2. a Gryphon bandsaw which was slightly used. The motor had burned out so he took it back and put a new one in.Not only that, but he demonstrated it for me,threw in a new blade and guide blocks and the price was a steal! While I was there he told me about a customer who called to order 500 pounds of Tripoli. The guy wanted it that day and it had to be waterproofed to transport in his pickup!!I would have told him to fold it five ways and stuff it where the moon don't shine, but Val put it on a pallet and shrinkwrapped it. Mike.

Mike, you are fortuneate to have a local source you can trust. Give them all the business you can. So many of the rock shops/lapidary supplies businesses have given up.

I would like to put in a good word for Mr. carver also. If you have a question or a problem concerning rocks or equipment, Val knows the answer. Mr. Carver is definately a class act. His assistant, Dee , is a super nice person to deal with also. If you come up with something she isn't familiar with she will find the answer and get back to you as soon as she can get to the phone. I can't remember a time I made a purchase there that I didn't come away feeling like I was given special treatment. The people I have sent there , have all said the same thing.
SUPER PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH !!!

Where is he located? So far, the only people I trust have been "The Agate shop' in Beaver bay MN, and The Rock Shed. Another, local place would be awesome.
