THAT IS INCREDIBLE. I am not sure that could be done even today. I am a firm believer in ancient technology that came here from somewhere because there are too many things like this out there that can not be explained or repeated with modern technology. And it ranges from this tiny to gigantic.

I'm an old bearded duffer with no experience in this stuff. But seen this pic from my nephew.
Could a stone carver who wanted to duplicate this affix a shaped chip of something harder, say sapphire, to a stick and carefully cut this out?
