Got 10 pounds of AO 220 for about $25 on Ebay.
Figured I could run SiC 30 in rotary and then transfer to AO 220 in vibe and pull off a 2 step. AO 220 closer to AO 500....
Instead of using AO 80. The AO 80 seem a bit overkill. Takes a while to break it down to near polish.(48 hours in powerful Vibrasonic)
Running last charge of SiC 30 for 7 to 10 days to break it down well for the transfer to AO 220. Have used AO 220 in rotary in the past instead of SiC 220 with great results.
Thinking the AO 220 may do well in the Lot-O. The AO 80 is slow to break down in the Lot-O.
Got a 1.5 pound chunk of Rio petrified wood in vibe started yesterday at 1PM from SiC 30 in rotary. 2 tablespoons of AO 220 and 2 tablespoons of Borax. Smallish 1/2 inch glass media. Probably should have used Mohs 7 agate media, will see. Trying to polish small glass media for running soft stones.
Hoping a fine wet shine will develop in 24 hours with the 220 instead of 'an almost wet shine' in 48 hours with the 80.

After 18 hours no polish.
Small glass media verses larger agate media, I believe the larger harder media would have broken down the aluminum oxide faster to a polish.
Will probably put this rock in rotary and SiC 30 for a couple of days and re run this rock in the larger agate media and AO 220 and find out.
